Workshops refuse to mount 8-year-old tires because tires degrade over time, regardless of tread wear or mileage. As tires age, the rubber compound hardens and becomes less flexible, leading to reduced traction and increased risk of blowouts. Additionally, older tires are more prone to cracking and dry rot, which can compromise their structural integrity. For safety reasons, workshops typically recommend replacing tires that are 6-10 years old, even if they appear to be in good condition. **
